Find the right box on moving day

Box'd is a moving box organizer app for the messy middle of a move. Number your boxes or print labels, say what's inside while you pack, then search or scan to find the right box later.

iPhone only for now. Android version coming soon.

How it works when you're moving

Three steps. Pack, add what's inside, find the box.

Start with a number

Grab a sharpie and write a number on each box, or print our QR labels at home and stick them on. No special printer needed. Standard paper and tape work. Label two sides so you can find the right box no matter how the movers stack them.

Say what's inside

Packing is a two-handed job. Tell Box'd what you're putting in each box as you go. We'll write the list for you. No typing, no stopping. When you're done, you've got a searchable list of what's in every box before the truck even leaves.

Find it on moving day

Need the modem or your passports? Search by item in the app or use Flashlight Search: point your phone at the room and the right box lights up. Less stress, more speed.

Outside the box

Keep the outside boring. A number is enough.

Inside the app

Passports, modem, bed bolts, kettle. The useful details stay searchable.

On moving day

Search, grab the right box, and keep the day moving.

Why movers and families use Box'd

A Sharpie is still useful. It just shouldn't carry the whole move. If you write "passports", "laptop", or "camera gear" on the outside, everyone handling the box can see it. If you write "office" or "Misc", it's private but useless. Box'd gives you the middle ground: keep the outside boring, and keep what's inside searchable.

Flashlight Search

On moving day, type what you need and scan your room. With QR labels, the right box lights up on your screen. No more digging through "Misc" boxes.

See Inside

Snap a photo before you close the box. Later, see exactly what's inside without breaking the seal.

Moving box FAQ

Move-day questions: labels, movers, family access, and finding the right box.

What is the best way to label moving boxes?
Use a simple number on the outside, then keep the detailed list in Box'd. That keeps private items off the box while still making everything searchable.
Can't I just use a Sharpie?
Yes. Sharpie is still part of the system. Write a simple number on the box, then keep the actual contents in Box'd. That way you don't have "laptop," "documents," or "jewellery" written on the outside, but you can still find them later.
Do I have to print labels for a move?
No. Number each box with a marker and type that number in the app. You still get voice lists, search, and photos for move day. Flashlight Search needs QR labels so the camera can spot the right box in a crowded room. Print if you want that.
Where should I put labels so movers don't hide them?
Use two stickers with the same code on two sides of the box. However the crew stacks them on the truck or in the garage, you'll still have a code facing out.
Can family or movers see what's packed without my password?
Yes. Partner Share lets you invite people to view your boxes. They get read access; they don't use your login.
We're not unpacking for weeks. Is Box'd still worth it?
Yes. Search for "sheets," "router," or "kids' shoes" before you open anything. Photos help you remember which kitchen box has the kettle without slicing every piece of tape.
What if boxes end up in the wrong room?
Each list is tied to the box, not the room. Relabel shelves in your head: search for what you need, grab that box number, move it once.
What kind of labels should I use?
Avery J8165 sheets fit our layout, or use plain paper and packing tape. Same templates we use on the main site.
Why do you need my camera and microphone?
The camera scans labels and snaps photos of what's inside so you don't have to open the box later. The mic is for voice input: say what's inside while your hands are full, and we'll turn it into a list.
Will Box'd work at the new house if Wi-Fi isn't set up yet?
You'll need internet on your phone for sync and search. If signal is thin, search while you're on better Wi-Fi, note the box numbers you need, then grab them. Offline mode is something we're building toward.
How do I cancel my subscription?
No stress. Manage your subscription in Apple ID settings: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. You can cancel or change your plan anytime.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Box'd is iOS-only for now, but Android is on the way. Email us if you want a heads-up when it ships.
Who can see my data?
Only you and people you invite through Partner Share. We don't sell your data, and we don't browse your boxes. Support only looks at your account if you ask us to fix something.
Is it free?
Your first 5 boxes are free, no account needed. After that, you can subscribe for unlimited boxes. That keeps the app running (servers, design, coffee).
I'm a professional organiser. Does this work for clients?
Yes. Labels stay unassigned until you scan them, so you can prep sheets at home and scan into a client's account on site. See the full workflow for professional organisers.
Is Box'd only for moving?
Moving is the headline use case, but Box'd works for storage and long-term clutter too. Read the full story on the home page.
I have more questions. How do I get help?
Email support@getboxd.app. We're a small team (okay, it's mostly just me), but I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
